HW 51( More To Come...)

Both prison and school, have become places to break the will of man, to impose strict disciplines and break prisoners to a place where they feel a sense of worthlessness. The United States Of America, the land of freedom and opportunity, has some of the highest incarceration statics by far, compared to any other country, with a whopping 6.5 million adults in the system today representing 3.2 percent of the adult population in the U.S. . The American prison system and school system our booming business.

The relationship between school and the penal system is as clear as the light of day ,they both involve control . Controlled movements, thoughts, and time. This school and prison control is done by total strangers whose stories and life remain hidden while the student and intimates life's our posted to the world like a bummer sticker to a car.

Students ,inmates, and their certified “jailers” are housed in buildings seemed to be made to serve as a reminder to their inhibitors of their own insignificance , and the power of those who control them. The combine structure of the institution and the one whose control it seem to share a equal purpose of making us “infants”.

One cannot argue school is an intense experience which takes up a chuck of ones time and life. An experience made to hammer in the culture and economy of whatever the “greater society” is, where instead of individuals who seek higher learning our left to do more then watch television or punch buttons on a keypad.

Some would argue that the imprisonment of adults and the schooling of children is the only but one has to see that just maybe we've been trained to feel this way, helpless, by same institutions we seek to save us from this helplessness. One could argue we’ve been made to feel this helplessness because those that are helpless are easy to control. Helpless people our their own jailers because they fear the what if , the new. They're like broken in dogs afraid to step out into the world without their masters, they take orders , they don’t think for themselves, they are predictable, they our reliable, they don’t threaten corporations or governments with resistance , resistance to the newest product craze, or the newest war.
